I have been thinking a lot about happiness and how everyone has their own form of happiness. Something simple can bring a lot of people the most joy in the world and for others not. In college I would meet people who were about to graduate and talked about never going to any games, events or parties but they seemed content with their college experience and were happy. Me seeing how different it was for others especially those kind of people really gave me a wake up call. I had one friend who would always be in his room during college playing video games with his friends from other places.
Some of our other friends always saw it as weird and at times he didn’t even go to class because he was so invested in his games but for him that was his form of joy. For me and others in our friend groups we wanted to go out to events, parties etc but for him being in his room playing his video games was a large part of his college experience and that brought him all the joy in the world. In life everyone has their form of happiness and I think a lot of times what others have done in the past has impacted a lot of people in the long run to the point where they are unable to be happy with anything else but it shouldn’t be that way.
In life we make our own happiness and like my friend in college who was always in his room playing his video games, that was his happiness. No one should be able to make or control our happiness. They can add to it but can never be the cause of it. No one can find happiness in others if they are not happy with themselves in the beginning. There is a power in finding happiness in the small things of life and this can have such an impact on ourselves and the ones around us. Positive energy and happiness is contagious and can rub off on the people around us. Happy people are also able to attract other positive people around them because that kind of energy can be sensed. I think everyone should make their own form of happiness and continue to expand on it for the long run.
