You Can Lose It All and Get It Back Tomorrow

Updated: Feb 28

I was listening to a new song by one of my favorite rappers EST Gee called Houstonatlantaville which features Lil Baby and Travis Scott. The song pays homage to their respective hometowns which for EST Gee Louisville, Atlanta for Lil Baby and Houston for Travis Scott. For most Hip-hop lovers these rappers are automatically connected to their hometowns especially with how they continue to rep them in any way they can.

They continue to promote changes in these places and there is nothing like it. In one of the lyrics Lil Baby and EST Gee made the statement of "You can lose it all, get it back tomorrow if you a hustler". This stood out to me throughout the whole song and I wanted to expand on it because there are a lot of things that can be learned from it. There is also the "I failed plenty of times, but a man inside when I got back up from". These two are some of the realest words you will hear. You can lose it all, get it back tomorrow can pertain to a lot of things that it takes a certain level of intelligence and understanding to fully know what they mean.

In a broad sense one may think about money since that is what most of these rappers brag about but it is not how I see it. In the case of money of course you can't lose all your money and wake up the next day and have it all back but the last part of being a hustler is what expands this. You can lose money today but wake up the next day with the drive and motivation to get it all back. It will take time which is normal but never giving up and having the goal in mind is what matters. Another thing I got from this is our drive and hunger. A lot of times as human beings we have moments in which we doubt ourselves or give up on ourselves and that is normal for all of us. No one wakes up automatic and wanting to go after it but that is when the hustler's mentality come in.

You can fail and lose it all but the end goal is what will keep you going. Knowing that no matter how far you have fallen, you can always get up. The last thing I related this to is our minds. Our minds are powerful and is the key to getting where we want to be or achieving everything we want. It is hard to get anywhere without peace of mind but once you get it, nothing is impossible. The mind is the key and once we put in the work to get it back, the world is ours. The last part is the most interesting part. "I failed plenty of times, but a man inside when I got back up from".

The great Martin Luther King has a quote that said "The Ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". The way a man responds to hard times and what they are able to learn from those times shows what kind of man they are. Lil Baby like others talk about how he has failed a lot of times which can also pertain to every other human being. We will fail but what is important is how we recover from it and the steps we take after failure. In the case of these artists they have gone through a lot when it comes to their struggle or fight to the top but they never gave up and their perseverance is what has kept them going. That is something we can all aim for. To fight and try our hardest to keep going no matter what.
