So I recently finished watching money heist on Netflix and honestly if you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it. The plot, story line, characters, everything about it is perfect. It was also a Spanish show and word of advice keep it in Spanish and have the subtitles in English because it isn’t that great the other way around. Anyways one thing I learned from this show is how one person can instill so much hope into others by just their will or their love. The professor is the main character in the show and the mastermind behind the heist. No matter how many times it seemed like the people in the heist would be caught or when it felt like there was no plan, the professor always found a way.
In one of the episodes, one of the characters tells the professor that what makes him special and important is that he always makes it to the end. No matter how the rest of them are or how they act they always know they have someone looking out for them and that is the professor. He was their hero who brought them hope. They know nothing can ever go wrong because he always has a plan and looks out for everyone’s best interest. Their belief in him is what kept them going through all the ups and down. He gave them the faith they needed no matter how bad it got or how bad they had fallen. Having him is all they needed. When they were finally captured by the police, the professor was willing to give himself away to save them all.
This demonstrates how important hope is and something or someone can instill that in a population or community. Martin Luther king Jr, Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela are also examples of this. Their actions and their will was strong enough to raise a huge population and give people the strength needed to keep going. We underestimate how important that is and how small actions can make a huge difference. Hope can be found in anything and everyone and finding that hope keeps us going no matter the situation or how far we think we have fallen because there is always a way.
I think a lot of the time we lose hope due to circumstances or how things may be going but one person can change that. These people may not be the most special or most direct but their presence can raise the spirits of others. One important thing that can be realized is we can be that person for others. We can be the ones who raise their spirits and give them hope to keep fighting. We can do it by our words, actions or our presence.
