The Wire Is My Next Watch

Sometimes in my YouTube watching phases I scroll around and refresh my feed multiple times trying to find new suggestions on videos to watch especially when I have no idea what to see next. This is something we all probably do because there is a lot to see and learn and really has become the only social media I use along with Pinterest which is not really social media. Well, I was refreshing a couple days ago and there has been one video that has shown up on my feed for weeks that I have been wanting to see but somehow something else catches my attention. The video is called "A little slow, A little Late" and is a clip from the show The Wire.

I have never seen The Wire, but this video has been coming on my feed for weeks and been only a minute long and having a million views I figured why not finally watch it. I didn't think a minute video will ruin the show for me and what I learned has me curious to watch the show. The scene started with someone lying in bed seems like in a coma and two characters looking at him. The Youtube comments tell me the main character in the scene is Avon and the person in bed is maybe his dad and the person he's talking to probably his brother. Avon starts by saying "You never figured on this did you?" while touching the person in bed. "Live the life, leave the life, ain't no big thing" is what Avon said the person laying down used to say and he lived it.

What I can interpret is the person has advised Avon to live the thug life on the streets but eventually you want to leave it because there is no survival. The next statement may be what stands out through all this. Avon talks about being scared seeing him like this and it would be better if the person was dead because he knows he lived his life and left gracefully. In the game he says "You only get the chance to mess up once, Be a little slow, be a little late just once" but he knows that is not realistic because as human beings, you're never not going to be slow. No one is always going to be on time or on top of things at all times. We'll all be late and be slow.

One wrong step and we're gone but to Avon "You can't plan for things like this" because it's life. Things are inevitable. A person may miss a Collison by just a second because he was able to speed past the driver, but you can't always miss the collision. In life there are times when you don't miss the collision and that's just life. In the streets like Avon is, your enemy might miss you in a drive by, but they can plan for next time and you may not be as lucky. This is something that speaks on all aspects of life. There will be lots of things that will not be in our control and no matter how much we want it to be it's not always in our hands. It's life. Now next for me is to start watching The Wire and learn more about Avon and others
