My Mom is my Hero

I recently spent the last month in my home country of Ghana in West Africa. This was my first time going back there in 14 years and also the first time I had seen my mom since 2008 and the first time I met my little brother who is 10. I came to the United States at the age of 10 and before that it had just been me and my mom. My mom did all she can, traveling back and forth just to make enough money to take care of us and also provide me with whatever I wanted and also pay for my education over there, food, clothes and everything. No matter what she persevered all thanks to God and worked hard. She like everyone else went through her challenges and cried a lot but no matter what she kept fighting and through her strong faith in God she continues to defy the odds.

When I was leaving Ghana to come to the United States on February 14, 2008 my mom was crying like any mom would but even at the age of 10 I assured her to not cry and just to keep praying. Fast forward 14 years later and me seeing her was a moment I will never forget in my life. We have been talking at least once every week since I came to the United States but seeing her again and how good and successful she has become was a blessing. My mom has worked hard and owns 2 businesses. She is still loved by everyone around her for how good she is to people and how much she is willing to help and love others. She takes care of others and their kids like they are her own and even gives out money to people like it's nothing.

She also wants to bless others but doesn't like receiving gifts back. That is the kind of person she is and she is my hero. She is the example of hard work and perseverance and how far a strong faith and relationship with God goes. She owns one of the nicest houses I have ever seen, a big upgrade from the one bedroom apartment we lived in before I left. She is such a good person and sometimes I joke to her that she is "too good" but I thank God everyday for how much he continues to bless and take care of her. I pray his grace continues to shine over her and everything she does. I Pray for good health and a long life for her and for God to continue to increase and multiply blessings in her life. Love you Mom.
