We Are All Searching For Something

I went to Burlington last night you know looking for a jacket because of the nonstop changes in weather here in Texas. We were literally covered with some snow mostly ice a couple days ago and today we are in the 60s and will find our way to the 70s at the end of the week. It shifts quickly and it is hard to predict at this point. Here we are in February in the 70s but I guess there is beauty in it. I was looking around the different aisles for clothes because with places like Ross, Burlington etc. you take your time and search to find gems. You can't just depend on what you see from a distance because you may miss out.
While looking I came across one of the workers there, a young girl. She was organizing clothes around where I was looking and asked how I was doing in which I replied. We kind of kept getting in each other’s way because she had to organize most of that section and kept making eye contact unintentionally. She seemed around her early 20s but looking into her eyes I saw a kind of sadness. She had sad eyes and it seems like she was searching for something. I would move around and look at different section of clothes but again we kept making eye contact and I still saw the sadness in her eyes. She wasn't crying or anything like that, but 4 years in the mental health field I kind of think I’m an expert in reading people and determining if they are going through it.
Of course, I may not be right all the time or maybe at all, but I like to think I know enough. I was leaving the store without buying anything of course when I had a thought, "We're all searching for something". Her sad eyes may mean she may be lost, or I may be completely wrong, but she is not the only one searching in life. At 28 years old I'm also searching and I'm sure the 35-year-old mom of 2 or the 65-year-old grandad is also searching too. The world is not easy nowadays especially here in the United States. The economy is all over the places, the mental health crisis continues, people can barely afford to take care of themselves, their families and there are others looking for shelter in this cold weather.
We're all searching for something and there is nothing wrong with that. It may be answers on how we can better our situations, it may be for a young girl like her what she wants to do with her life or where she wants to be going forward or it may be a 28-year-old like me looking for the direction God wants to take my life next. There is beauty in the struggle, and I think we underestimate that at times. We're doing the best we can with what we have and there is nothing wrong with that. Each day may not be pretty and there may be harder ones than others but we're doing what we can and that is what matters. It is about the journey to the destination, and it doesn't matter how long it takes as long as we get there.
